The Millsboro Police Department will be holding a Citizen’s Police Academy in
January of 2010. The academy is designed to give citizens an “inside look” at
how the police department functions.
The academy is scheduled for Tuesday nights starting January 12th through
February, 23rd. Each evening class will be approximately two hours long. Topics
will include Leadership in Law Enforcement, Court Room Procedures, Process of
Becoming a Police Officer in Delaware, Crime Scene Processing, as well as
numerous additional topics. The class will also take a tour of the Sussex County
Correctional Institute.
Applicants must register for the academy by picking an application up at the
police department or by visiting the department’s website at
www.millsboropd.com to download an
application. Early registration is encouraged due to limited seating.
Chief Murphy quote “This will be our fourth Citizen’s Police Academy,
this forum gives our officers a chance to engage in open dialogue with the
citizens we serve. Past graduates have told us they left with a better
understanding of how a police department functions. Our community has changed a
little over the last few years, this gives us a chance to reach out ”
