School Bus Crash in Millsboro

The Millsboro Police department was dispatched to a report of an over turned school bus on northbound U.S. 113 at the intersection of Delaware Avenue. Officer’s received the call at approximately 3:30 p.m., police and EMS responded to the scene and found a school bus on its side partially off the east side of the roadway. Preliminary investigation reveals that the bus was traveling northbound on U.S. 113 in the left lane and a Buick Century operated by 39 year old, Alicia M. Jackson of Millsboro, was traveling east on Delaware Avenue, Jackson pulled into the path of the bus striking the side in front of the rear tires. The school bus skidded onto the shoulder and back towards the center of the roadway before it flipped onto its side and came to a rest partially off the roadway.
When the crash occurred there were five children on the bus, all of the children were transported to an area hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the bus, 70 year old, Howard P. Clark refused treatment as did Jackson.
Alcohol was not a factor in the crash and police expect to file charges against Jackson.
U.S. 113 northbound was shut down or had lane restrictions for approximately three hours.
